Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will visit Brussels on October 20 at the invitation of President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso to reach political agreements ib the completion of talks on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

The presidential press service reported that Yanukovych and Barroso discussed this during a phone conversation on Monday.

The Ukrainian president said he was ready to continue an open and constructive dialogue to bring Ukraine and the EU closer together. He said he hoped that the sides would manage to finalize the text of the agreement after talks in July through September 2011.

According to President Yanukovych, he will continue using constructive approaches for reaching compromises on unresolved issues. The president of Ukraine added that he expected the personal support of Barroso in this process.

President Yanukovych also said that on June 6 the Ukrainian side submitted to the European Commission a report on the implementation of the first legislative phase of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization.

"We hope the European Commission will reach positive conclusions on the fulfillment of the first stage of the document by the Ukrainian side. We also expect that other member-states will take a political decision on passing to the second stage of implementation of the Action Plan by the end of this year," the president said.

President Yanukovych also said that he is ready to participate in the Eastern Partnership Summit on September 29-30 in Warsaw.
