You're reading: Yanukovych to strive for European standards of living for Ukrainians

Regions Party Leader Viktor Yanukovych has said that his chief coal as president will be raising living standards of Ukrainians to the European level.

“The principal objective is the European standards of living for Ukrainians,” Yanukovych said at the Regions Party’s congress, which was held in Kyiv on Friday.

At the same time, he stressed that the principal clause of his program “Ukraine for people” will be social security of people’s which will be guaranteed by the state, Yanukovych said adding that these policies will be aimed at raising Ukraine’s population to 50 million by 2020.

As for the national economy, Yanukovych will strive for Ukraine’s getting into the top 20 of the most economically developed countries.

In particular, he wants to announce tax holidays for five years for small businesses, lower the VAT to 17% in 2011 and reduce the profit tax to 19% in 2011 with subsequent gradual decrease to 16%.
