DOHA – Ukraine is ready to assist Qatar during its preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and invites Qatar businesses to join the Olympic Hope 2022 national project in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“I’m glad that Qatar was honored to host the 2022 World Cup. I know
that many Ukrainian experts are ready to join in the preparations for
this big event,” Yanukovych said at a presentation of Ukrainian national
projects in Doha (Qatar) on Wednesday.

He said Ukraine has experience and its own sports ambitions.
Particularly it hopes to host the 2022 Winter Olympics in the
Carpathians.

“The relevant sports industry is yet to be developed. The national
project Olympic Hope 2022 was launched for this purpose. I’m calling on
Qatar businesses to think about joining this project,” the president
said.

In addition, Yanukovych invited representatives of big businesses
from Qatar to visit Kyiv on December 7, 2012 to attend the Second
International Investment Conference.

In turn, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, Ukrainian businessman
Oleksandr Yaroslavsky noted that he was ready to participate in a joint
Ukraine-Qatar project on the preparations for the 2022 World Cup.

“I’m ready to invest, I have available funds and I will invest in Qatar with pleasure,” he told Ukrainian journalists.

According to him, he has discussed the issue with the Qatari premier’s son, who is a leading banker in that country.
