Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who is on an official visit to China, has met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhang Dejiang in Beijing.
“The Ukrainian and Chinese nations are tied by long-standing
friendship,” the presidential press service quoted Yanukovych as saying
at the beginning of the meeting on Thursday.
He said Ukraine was ready to bring new content to the strategic
partnership agreement between the two countries. Yanukovych also said it
was important to implement existing agreements between Ukraine and
China.
He said that Ukraine is pleased with China’s success in the economy and politics. Zhang, in turn, said that Yanukovych had done much to strengthen Ukrainian-Chinese friendship.
“China highly values that,” he said.
