Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych has said that if elected president he will strive for Ukraine’s being a non-aligned state.

While speaking at a congress of the Party of Regions in Kyiv on Friday, Yanukovych said: “I will give Ukraine new foreign policies: Ukraine will be a non-aligned state.”

He stressed that the new foreign policies will be based on the national interest. Ukraine will be contributing to peace in the world.

“We will initiate a new common marker between the European Union and the CIS states. The foreign policy priority will be restoration of the full-fledged partnership with Russia, as well as the development of mutually beneficial partnership with the United State, the EU all the key countries of the G20,” he said.
