Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon talked on the telephone on Sunday.

Ukraine and approaches to resolving it, the Ukrainian president’s press
office said.

It has been reported that Yanukovych spoke on the telephone with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

“He [Barroso] recalled the need to respect and to exert maximum
restraint. He announced that the High Representative/Vice-President,
Catherine Ashton, would travel to Kyiv this week to support a way out of
the political crisis,” the European Commission said in a statement on
Sunday.

Barroso has also recalled the EU stance on signing the Association
Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with Ukraine when
necessary conditions are complied with, the document said.
