The address of the residence of former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, will be revealed to Kyiv investigators on Aug. 27, Yanukovych's lawyer Vitaliy Serdiuk has said.

“Today Yanukovych said told the investigator his real address of his residence in Rostov-on-Don. Today after dinner, when this press conference comes to an end, his residence address would be provided. I address via the journalists to the prosecutor general, who will ask to ensure the arrival of the investigator to the mentioned address to carry out respective investigative actions,” he said.

Serdiuk said that Yanukovych remains a citizen of Ukraine and he is officially registered in Kyiv at an address on Obolonska Quay. However, the investigators indicated the wrong house and apartment numbers at this location.

He said that his client’s return to Kyiv remains impossible because of security concerns.

Moreover, an inquiry into his client’s involvement in the events on Independence Square in February 2013, when almost one hundred protesters were killed and dozens more were injured, was suspended, Serdiuk added.

“The investigation into the Maidan case in regard to Viktor Yanukovych was suspended. De facto, since 2014 the investigation into Yanukovych over this case and investigative actions respectively have not been carried out in time, even though this is the most notorious case since many people were killed. A lot of people were injured. Society must know the truth, the public must know the answer why still, there is no final answer in this case,” Serdiuk said.
