Interpol's central office is not placing former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and former Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko on the wanted list in connection with the events that took place in Odesa on May 2 this year, in which 48 people were killed, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema has said.

‘For some strange reasons Interpol’s central office in Lyon is not issuing a Red Notice for Yanukovych and Zakharchenko, as well as for other supporters and organizers of this horrible crime, although all materials have been sent there,’ Yarema said in an interview with Channel 5.

At the same time, he said, over a hundred people have already been arrested and are testifying in this case.

The Prosecutor General’s Office expressed hope that it would be possible not only to punish those who executed but also those who ordered this crime. However, according to Yarema, there are objective problems with this, as Interpol is slowing the process, Channel 5 reported.

As reported, 48 people were killed and over 200 were injured in the riots in Odesa on May 2. Most of the people were killed in a fire that broke out at the Trade Unions House.
