A gas leak has been tentatively named the cause of the explosion at a gas station in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky, Kyiv region, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaliy Yarema said.

“According to tentative reports, it was a gas leak,” he told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The explosion, which caused a fire in the gas station’s
administrative building, occurred at around 0840 on Tuesday on the 49th
kilometer of the Kyiv-Zolotonosha highway. Six people died and five were
injured.
