President Viktor Yanukovych wants to introduce a state of emergency in Ukraine, according to Batkivschyna parliament faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk.

“We know that the president wants to convene the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and declare a state of emergency in the country,” Yatseniuk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sunday.

He said that “any use of force will cause counteraction.”

According to Yatseniuk, the opposition bears no relation to recent clashes in Bankova Street.

President Viktor Yanukovych and his people are behind the dispersal of the Euromaidan protest rally in Kyiv on November 30 and the provocations that are taking place in Kyiv on December 1, Yatseniuk said.
