Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said he hopes the new Verkhovna Rada have mostly pro-European and pro-Ukrainian members.

In an interview with the leading Ukrainian television channels on Aug. 22, Yatseniuk said that the format that the main political forces will adopt for the parliamentary elections will be decided after President Petro Poroshenko dissolves the current parliament and calls elections.

“Talks will be held as soon as the presidential decree on the early dissolution of the parliament has been announced. We will discuss how to conduct these elections: with one party, or two or three, or in blocs, and how to support majority-election candidates. All these things are technicalities for achieving the goal. The goal is 300 votes in the new parliament, pro-European and pro-Ukrainian ones,” the prime minister said.
