Ukraine has agreed with donor countries on financial assistance in the implementation of social welfare programs for displaced persons, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

“We have begun the process of the registration of displaced persons to clearly know where and in what conditions these people reside. We are making the decision to provide state aid for a six-month period to these persons. People have no housing, no work, and they have been deprived of everything. Which model is proposed by the Cabinet of Ministers? Monthly assistance to every disabled person is Hr 884 and to every able-bodied persons Hr 442,” he said, while opening a government meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Yatseniuk said that if a person wants to receive state aid, it is necessary to apply to the employment center for registration in order to obtain a job.

“If you want the state to help you, please seek and get a job. In general, the amount for one family does not exceed Hr 2,400, and this is the case if a person is looking for a job and is ready to maintain the family. Those who are not registered cannot get state assistance,” he said.

He said that the financing of such assistance would begin immediately after the registration of the specified persons.

“With regard to funding, every day we have new expenses – less revenues and more expenditure. Once we hold the registration of displaced persons and assign payments, we have an agreement with Western partners, we will obtain donor assistance. After registration and the launch of payments foreign donors will give us an opportunity to offset the costs of the state budget for payments to temporarily displaced persons,” Yatsenyuk added.
