Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien to discuss the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas and assistance to internally displaced persons and Ukrainian citizens living in the war-torn zone in eastern Donbas.

“Ukraine highly appreciates the assistance of the United Nations and hopes for consolidation of the international community in future to assist Ukrainian citizens who have suffered from the Kremlin’s aggression and become hostages of Russian terrorists,” the Ukrainian Cabinet’s press service quoted Yatsenyuk as saying on Nov. 2.

The Ukrainian premier called for increased international pressure on the Russian leaders to ensure that the Minsk agreements and overcome any obstacles created by Russian mercenaries to the supply of Ukrainian and international humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian citizens.

In addition, the sides discussed urgent issues related to the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas and practical issues of future cooperation.
