The Cabinet of Ministers by late August is to draw up a plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement of Ukraine with the European Union, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

“As for our work on European integration: today the deputy ministers for European integration will be appointed. An office for the European integration has been created in the government, and the ministry is to submit an implementation plan for the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement by the end of the current month,” the premier said at a cabinet meeting on Aug 20.

The EU signed association agreements with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia on June 27, 2014 in Brussels. The parliaments of Moldova and Georgia have ratified the agreement.

The agreement has not yet been submitted to the Ukrainian parliament for ratification, although the government said that all the required documents have been drawn up.

On August 18, the Batkivschyna faction published an address to the Ukrainian president. The faction said it was perplexed by the absence of progress in the ratification of Ukraine’s association with the EU. MPs from Batkivschyna insist on the submission of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement to the parliament for ratification and plan to discuss the issue with the Ukrainian president.

The next session of parliament is scheduled to open on Sep 2.
