Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said that Russia has no right to take all the credit for defeating Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War, known as World War II in the West.

“Russia, which is now trying to revise history, saying that Russia would have won the Great Patriotic War without Ukraine, has no right to take all the credit for the joint fight against Nazi Germany,” Yatsenyuk said during a government meeting in Kyiv on March 31.

Yatsenyuk said that Ukraine’s casualties accounted for 40 percent of all USSR casualties in the Great Patriotic War.

“We demand that our joint fight against Nazism should be respected and honored,” he said.
