Ukraine's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said that 2015 will be a difficult year, with the government planning to continue cuts to social spending.

“The year 2015 will be more difficult than the current one. What is happening in Donbas costs Ukraine dearly … We will continue in the red for another six months,” Yatsenyuk told parliament on Dec. 2.

In 2014, the government optimized social spending by Hr 4.5 billion, he recalled, reaffirming the intention to “follow this path” next year.

Furthermore, the government will continue cutting spending for public-sector workers but will increase funding for the army, Yatsenyuk said.
