The Ukrainian government has said that Russia could violate agreements on retaining the present regime of free trade until the end of 2015 and it is preparing for the urgent introduction of matching measures in response, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

‘As soon as Russia imposes trade restrictions against Ukraine, we will urgently, on the same day, introduce matching measures,’ the premier said when opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

As reported, on Sept. 12, Russia, Ukraine and the EU during negotiations in Brussels reached agreement according to which the clause of Ukraine’s Association Agreement with the EU sensitive for Russia will not be applied until early 2016. On Tuesday 16, the European parliament and the Ukrainian parliament ratified the document.

However, on September 16, Economic Development Minister Alexiy Ulyukayev said that the resolution of the Russian government on the increase of duties on Ukrainian goods would be signed in the near term, as Ukraine ratified the Association Agreement with the EU, which is to take effect from Nov. 1, 2014.
