Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk believes the creation of a grain pool with Canada and the U.S. can strengthen Ukraine's positions on the world market.

‘We can form a powerful food and grain pool with the U.S. and Canada,’ Yatsenyuk was quoted as saying by his press service during a visit to Poltava on Friday.

‘One of the tasks of the future government and the future Ukrainian administration is to make Ukraine a country that determines the world food politics, not just a player,’ Yatsenyuk said.

The Ukrainian government under President Viktor Yanukovych considered Ukraine’s participation in the Black Sea grain pool with Russia and Kazakhstan. The creation of the pool was initiated by Russia, but no specific decision was made then.
