You're reading: Yatsenyuk’s statement of resignation already in parliament

Arseniy Yatsenyuk's statement of resignation as Ukrainian prime minister has been received by the Verkhovna Rada, the parliament's press service has reported.

Earlier, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov said that
immediately after registration the statement would be sent to the
concerned committee, which will consider it and urgently submit it to
the session hall for consideration.

As reported, Yatsenyuk said from the Verkhovna Rada rostrum on Thursday evening, July 24 that he had tendered his resignation.

“I declare my resignation due to the breakup of the coalition and the blocking of government initiatives,” he said.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko later issued an official letter
to Turchynov asking him to urgently consider the question of the prime
minister’s resignation.

Poroshenko also said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine headed by Yatsenyuk should continue its work.
