You're reading: Zatulin: CIA agents work for Ukraine’s State Security Service

Officers from the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) are working almost overtly within Ukrainian secret services over the spy scandal in this country, State Duma member Konstantin Zatulin said.

"Its initial cause and mastermind are unclear," Zatulin said on Tuesday, commenting to the media on the situation over the spy scandal in Ukraine.

Many things are unclear in this case, he said. Intelligence activity is something that all nations always did and will conduct, and there is nothing fatal about it, the MP said.

Therefore, given that the Ukrainian security services are so active with respect to Russian secret services, attention should also be paid to the actions by U.S. CIA officers, he said.

It is no secret for a select few in Ukraine that CIA officers are working for this country’s Security Service almost openly, with access to any, including classified information, he said.

"In Ukraine it is nothing to be embarrassed by," the MP said.
