PARIS (AP) — An official with Libya's governing body says that the president of France and Britain's prime minister are traveling to Libya on Thursday, the first heads of state to do so.

There was no official confirmation of the visit Thursday from French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s office or from the office of British Premier David Cameron.

However, Suleiman Fortia, representative of the Libyan city of Misrata to the National Transitional Council, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the two leaders are expected.

France and Britain pressed for NATO action to protect civilians against Moammar Gadhafi’s troops.
