A protester holds a placard showing Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and reading "Go out... Just do it" at the continuing anti-government demonstration in Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo, Egypt Thursday, Feb 10, 2011.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will confirm in a speech to the nation on Thursday that he will not run for another presidential term, Al Arabiya television reported.
Mubarak pledged 10 days ago that he would not stand in a presidential election due in September.
Mubarak's speech is due to be broadcast shortly, state television said earlier.
President Mubarak will transfer his powers to his vice president Omar Suleiman, Al Arabiya television reported on Thursday citing "trusted sources". He apologises to the victims of Egypt's unrest and that he is convinced by the honest intentions of the youths protesting, Al Arabiya said.
The station also said the president would say that he was amending five articles in the constitution and cancelling a sixth, and that he would not accept orders from outside.
