You're reading: Norway public TV: EU to win Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO, Norway — Norway's public broadcaster NRK says it has confirmed that the European Union will receive this year's Nobel Peace Prize. It isn't citing its sources.

The secretive five-member Nobel Peace Prize committee will make its announcement at 09.00 GMT, and has not given any public hints other than to say this year’s decision was unanimous.

Norwegian media, including NRK, have reported winners in advance on some previous occasions. Last year, rival broadcaster TV2 reported before the announcement that Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was a possible winner; she shared the award with two other women. NRK, however, has previously reported “favorites” who didn’t win.
