WARSAW, Poland — Poland's prime minister will seek a confidence vote in a bid to boost support for his government whose popularity is dwindling as the country's economy slows down.

While Poland was the only country in the European Union to register a steady growth recent data show that unemployment is rising steadily to 12.4 percent in August while economic growth is expected to be under 3 percent this year from 4.3 percent in 2011.

Donald Tusk will lay out plans on Friday how to deal with these trends.

Recent opinion polls show a rapid shrinking of support for his center-liberal Civic Platform party.
