NATO says it is planning constantly manned facilities in NATO-member countries that are east of what formerly was the iron curtain. NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in an interview published on August 26 in Britain's "The Guardian" newspaper that plans call for "a more visible NATO presence in the East."
