Vienna -- The P5+1 (the UN Security Council's five permanent members plus Germany) and Iran have agreed to extend their negotiations aimed at finalizing the details of last year's deal on Iran's nuclear program until June 30, 2015, European Union envoy Catherine Ashton and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a joint statement in Vienna.

The participants in these talks have made great progress over the past few months, Ashton said.

However, the sides needed more time to discuss the numerous technical details of this agreement and were unable to finalize them before the Nov. 24 deadline, she said.
