The U.S. military says an American soldier has died in southern Iraq in a non-combat related incident.

Thursday’s statement from the military says the death occurred on Wednesday. No further details were released. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who died in Iraq in April to 10. Of those, four were killed during operations and the rest in non-combat incidents.

The death raises to at least 4,451 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003. That’s according to an Associated Press count.
