Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko takes part in an opening of a memorial devoted to the 1932-33 famine that killed millions several days ahead of an anniversary of the tragedy, in Kharkiv, some 480 km (300 miles) east of Kiev, Ukraine, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008. Yushchenko is leading a campaign to win international recognition of the famine as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian nation.
