Morning rush hour in the H.I.R.C. department: workers undergo internal radiation control before starting their shift on the New Safe Confinement construction site near the 4th Block “Shelter Object.”

Michael Forster Rothbart is a freelance photographer working mostly in Wisconsin, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He is the creator of the After Chernobyl documentary project. His photographs of modern-day Chernobyl and the surrounding area are currently exhibited in Shevchenko Park, Kyiv. The exhibition is on until May 8, 2009.
