Laser-cut fashion

Designer Olga Gromova wanted perfection and simplicity when she chose to treat her garments with laser, instead of scissors. She presented her snow-white collection of fitted sheaths with low backs and intricate laser-cut details to the celebrity audience on Oct. 11. Laser design, although seen by many couturiers as the new It, has not been the focus of Gromova’s show. “Fashion is a myth,” said the lady of the night, “people overestimate it when in reality you only need a dress to cover your knees and a bag – to carry your things around.” To prove her point, models took off and threw their dresses into the fire at the far end of the catwalk.
