A new season of “Ukraine’s Got Talent” television show will start on March 5 at 8 p.m. on STB channel. It may attract an even bigger audience than the first gala show on June 19, 2009, which was watched by a record audience of more than 11 million Ukrainians.
“Ukraine’s talented people have much more to amaze their audience this time,” said Tala Onyschuk, project director of “Ukraine’s Got Talent” show. “We will make our viewers feel they are in ancient Rome’s Colosseum where only the best performances were seen.”
While in 2009 more than 14,000 Ukrainians came to try their chances, in 2010 twice as many aspirants are ready to show off their talents. Circus performers and acrobats are among the second season’s peculiarities. “Many of these circus performers are not available for average Ukrainians because they work mostly abroad. But this time they came back home to show their talents in two-minute performances,” Onyschuk said.
Since last spring, STB TV channel has featured talented Ukrainians from all over the country. The most colorful participants of the first season of “Ukraine’s Got Talent” show included sand artist Kseniya Simonova, impersonator Valery Yurchenko and oriental dancer Alla Kushnir. They parlayed their TV fame into a tour of eight cities, including Lviv, Kherson, Odesa, Zaporizhya, Donetsk, and, of course, Kyiv, to encourage other people to take part in the show.
“Unique people are the main thing which makes this show so successful,” Onyshchuk said. “No bright scripts or costly stills can replace a talented person.”
Any kind of talent, including singing, dancing, animal training, juggling, magic tricks and acrobatics are welcome. “If you think you can read Pushkin’s poems with talent, we are glad to see you on the show,” Onyschuk said.
Even those with not so much talent make it on the air.
“We watch such dubious ‘talent’ with ease and good nature, because it would be wrong to show only ‘true’ talent on the show,” said Ihor Kondratyuk, television producer and one of the judges of the show.
By the end of the show, last year’s three judges – dancer Vlad Yama, TV anchorperson Slava Frolova and producer Ihor Kondratyuk – will select the 40 best performances. The final winner will be chosen by SMS-voting.
The first season of “Ukraine’s Got Talent” television show, a local equivalent of the British and U.S. talent shows, finished in spring 2009. It received three Teletriumf awards, the main Ukrainian television award, as the best entertainment program, best producers and the best promo campaign. Castings for the second season of the show started immediately.
The second season of “Ukraine’s Got Talent’” can be watched from March 5 to May 28 at 8 p.m. on STB TV Channel.
