You're reading: Super Bowl kicks off… in Kyiv’s bars

Early morning on Feb. 6 will be no time for Americans in Kyiv to sleep.

Thousands of miles away in Indianapolis, the 46th Superbowl will be getting ready to kick off at 1.30 a.m. (Kyiv time) – and the drinks will be flowing at bars in Ukraine’s capital that are staying open all night for the game.

There are plenty of options for watching the game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants on big screens in Kyiv bars, particularly at expat hangouts.

Irish-style bar O’Briens can fit in up to 200 fans and viewers and will stay open through the night, rather than closing at 2 a.m. as usual. The pub will offer dark German beer at Hr 29 rather than the usual Hr 38.

Arizona BBQ will hold its annual Super Bowl party, including a DJ playing rock and roll before the game and during the breaks and dancing along to Madonna for the half-time show.

Golden Gate will also stay open for the game, but says it will offer no special program.
