Spanish movies

The Spanish Film Festival opens on April 16. The program of the festival includes five films, all released in 2014. The festival’s opening movie is a romantic comedy directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera, Three Many Weddings (Tres Bodas De Mas). All of the movies are screened in Spanish with Ukrainian subtitles.

Zelyonka Fest 1.4 

The three-day event includes the show program and master  classes from famous choreographers. This year the opening show will include performances by Israeli
dancer and choreographer Eldad Ben Sasson, ex- soloist of the Batsheva Dance Company and Vertigo Dance Company as well as Polish Theater Dada Von Bzdylow. For more information on the program and master classes go to http://www.zelyonka-fest.org/.

Kyiv City Marathon

This year, apart from the usual 42-kilometer  marathon, relay, half-marathon,  street run and kids run, the participants in the fifth annual event will be able to run 5 km to commemorate the Heavenly Hundred, the EuroMaidan Revolution demonstrators killed by police.  Some 1,700 runners, amateurs as well as professionals, participated in last year’s marathon. Over 2,500 contestants have already registered for this year’s marathon.

Caliban 

German metal core band Caliban is making a fourth visit to Kyiv. Founded in 1997, the band has already released nine studio albums. “Ghost Empire,” a 2014 record, includes thirteen new songs and will be  performed in Kyiv as a part of the band’s European Tour.

The winner of three Grammy Awards is coming to Kyiv. The virtuoso guitar player, who worked closely with Frank Zappa and Joe Satriani, has already released eight studio albums. The artist was in Ukraine before, giving guitar master classes. He will be playing on stage with his full band for the first time in Ukraine.

Movie screening

“Shall We Dance?” is a 2004 drama directed by Peter Chelsom. Starring Richard Geer and Jennifer Lopez, the film tells a story of a lawyer, who while chasing a mirage girl in the window, finds himself in a  dancing studio and discovers passion for ballroom dancing. The movie is screened in English with English
subtitles. The audience is welcome to stay for a discussion after the screening.
