'Terralogy' art exhibition

This weekend, don't miss the last chance to see "Terralogy," featuring the works of Ukrainian modern artist Oleg Drozdov. The exhibited sculptures are made of metal and changed with the use of natural processes like rusting and oxidation that create abstract pictures on a metal surface. The chemical processes are continuing, so the pieces change even during the show.

‘Man and Superman’ theatrical recording

Yet another play recorded in a British theater will hit the screen in Kyiv as part of the British Theatre in Cinema series. “Man and Superman” by George Bernard Shaw moves famous character Don Juan into the early 20th century in England, portraying him as an educated playboy anarchist. The show is inspired by the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. Ralph Fiennes stars as Don Juan. The screening is in English with Ukrainian subtitles.

Green Weekend Festival

This street festival will turn Kyiv’s European Square into a food court and a space for outdoor games. The food and drinks will be from Kyiv and Hong Kong. A good option for a family weekend.

Street art festival

RayBand Festival is a charity event that encourages young people to be creative, and to respect their city. The festival will have several areas of street art in which participants can display their talents, including fashion, dance, music, theater and drawing. Proceeds from the event will go to wounded soldiers and children of Ukrainians who have fled Luhansk Oblast. Littering, drinking alcohol and smoking is strictly forbidden in the festival area.

Jazz

Jazz Under the Stars

Several more of the regular “Music Under the Stars” concerts will take place this month. At the next one, the Dmitry Alexandrov Quartet will play some famous jazz standards as well as its own pieces in the Kyiv Planetarium, while stars are projected onto the spherical screen above. The band is considered one of the best jazz bands in Ukraine. Saxophonist Dmitry Alexandrov is band leader and soloist.

Gus Gus

Gus Gus, trip-hop from Iceland

Icelandic band Gus Gus combines elements of trip-hop, downtempo, electronics, and indie in its music. This month’s concert will be the band’s second show in Kyiv, having first performed in the Ukrainian capital in November 2014.
