Banned paintings on show

An exhibition in the National Art Museum features the paintings that were hidden in the museum's depository since late 1930s, when Soviet terror was at its peak. The paintings were put away from public view because their authors were prosecuted as traitors and "enemies of the state."

Boombox 10th anniversary

One of Ukraine’s most successful bands, Boombox is about to have a 10-year anniversary show in Kyiv. The Boombox was founded in 2004, when three students with no music education whatsoever tried to make some music in a college dorm. The band has released five albums and is known for their funky groove and r’n’b sound and poetic lyrics.

Hip-hop meets symphonic orchestra

Legendary Ukrainian hip-hop band TNMK will perform their hits with Slobozhanskiy Symphonic Orchestra. The show is dedicated to the slain EuroMaidan Revolution participants. Specially for the show the band recorded a song about the killed protesters, “Tam, de ty teper” (“Where You Are Now”).

Norwegian jazz trumpeter

Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer will give a solo show in Kyiv on Feb. 19. His music is a fusion of jazz, electronic soundscapes, and hip-hop beats.
