‘Winter fairytale in Ancient Kyiv’

A celebration of the Orthodox holiday Baptism of Jesus in Kyivska Rus park will please those interested in Ukrainian culture. The celebration will include a theater performance in authentic costumes, a nativity scene, horse riding, crafts trainings and a food festival.

Jazz Kolo with Christmas program

Ukrainian jazz musicians are about to perform jazz covers of classical and modern music in the last day of Orthodox Christmas. The program promises to combine elegance and a homelike atmosphere.

‘The Great Gatsby’ Ballet

“The Great Gatsby” ballet engages actors from the National Opera of Ukraine and Russia’s Mariinsky Theatre. The producers brag that the show is the first modern Ukrainian ballet of the “high international level.” The tickets to its premiere in the fall of 2014 in Kyiv were sold out long before the show and now “The Great Gatsby” returns for a two-day rerun.

Fence drawings exhibition

In this unusual exhibition artist Viktor Deysun explores the art of writing on a fence – parkan in Ukrainian. The pieces of the real with offensive, political, and sports-related writings fences were brought to the exhibition from different parts of Ukraine. Deysun sees the fences as the chronicles of society, but also as a multilevel metaphor – for the personal limitations and the society split.

British Theatre in Cinema: ‘John’

The performance by DV8 Physical Theatre matches dance with words, with 50 men engaged in a performance devoted to love, sex and entertainment. The central character, John, has a life of crime and drug use. The performance is screened in English with Ukrainian subtitles.

Alvin Booth photo exhibition

The works of British photographer Alvin Booth exhibited in Kyiv explore a woman’s body nd various lightning effects. The exhibition includes his best works from various collections, showing physical beauty, light tricks, and fantasies. The photos are made in a sepia-like technique, and contain nudity.
