‘Aviya’s Summer’ (1989)

“Aviya’s Summer,” a 1989 drama, tells the story of a 10-year-old whose mother survived the Holocaust and is trying to find her place in life. The film is based on the autobiographical book by Gila Almagor, who also plays Aviya’s mother in the film. The work won many Israeli as well as international awards, including the Silver Bear Award from the 39th Berlin International Film Festival. The movie is screened in Hebrew with Russian subtitles.

Garou, the star of “Notre Dame de Paris,” is introducing his new album in Kyiv. The record “Rhythm and Blues” compiles world’s greatest hits sang by Garou in a blues way. Apart from paying tribute to the world most known musicians, the artist will share his new hits. The work on “Rhythm and Blues” was a 15-year-long process and is finally ready to be heard.

French movie club

This week the French movie club is screening a 2009 film “Complices” (Accomplices). Directed by Frédéric Mermoud, the film tells the story of a couple who falls in love at first sight. Rebecca and Vincent enjoy each other’s company up until Vincent is found dead in the river. His lover, Rebecca, strangely disappears. The movie is screened in French with Ukrainian subtitles.

Modern Art Festival

The idea of Fabrika, the modern art festival, fully belongs to the artists participating in it. Over the course of three days, the audience will be able to enjoy different aspects of the modern visual art. The festival covers various areas of art: exhibitions, movies, music, dance, photography. The participant’s list includes more than 40 Kyiv artists.

Vlad Nikitin is one of the band members of Crystal Harmony, an exotic tandem that creates original music using a verrophone and aglass-harp. He will give a solo performance – and for just one night – to introduce his solo album, “Parade Planet” (The Parade of Planets). The out-of-this-world sounds he produces with his verrophone are going to be bolstered by a special 3D show, projected on the dome of the building.
