AIDS-themed art exhibition

Elena Pinchuk’s Anti-Aids Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special exhibition in PinchukArtCentre: “Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way.” Curators of the center gathered prominent art pieces from Ukraine and abroad illustrating the history of HIV/AIDS and how people reacted to it through the ages. Exhibition features works by contemporary art maitre Damien Hirst, famous American photographer Nan Goldin, Cuban artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Ukrainian artist Ilya Chichkan.
Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way.

Check out Vopli Vidoplyasova

One of the most famous Ukrainian rock bands, the band Vopli Vidoplyasova (VV) is going on tour. Presenting its 10th album in some 20 Ukrainian cities, the band promises to put on a good show again, this time trying out a new sound.  The band, whose leader is Oleh Skrypka, is retooling some of its hits.

Ballet legends

Sergey Polunin is a former dancer for the British Royal Ballet and now a dancer for The Stanislavskiy Music Theater and the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Svetlana Zakharova is a prima ballerina for the Bolshoi Theater. With the help of soloists of the ballet of National Opera of Ukraine, they will perform the show that has been done on world stages for some 170 years.

Movie time with Chasopys

Chasopys is screening “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story” on Nov. 16 and invites everyone to enjoy it in English and to partake in a group discussion afterwards. Directed by Thomas Carter and released in February 2009, the movie tells the life story of the famous neurosurgeon Ben Carson from 1961 to 1987. The relaxed and cozy atmosphere of Chasopys is welcoming and perfect for movie watching.

Love Fantasy

The festival explores sexual culture. Participants will get acquainted with health problems and ways to solve them, be able to talk about reproduction and contraception and discover more about the history of a sexual culture. Other displays will include lingerie, costumes and accessories. Those who go also have the chance to learn about pole dancing.

Mumiy Troll

This alternative rock band has been in the music business for years. It proudly represents its native city of Vladivostok, Russia and uses its peculiarities as an inspiration for songs and shows. This time Mumiy Troll is going to present the concert version of its last album SOS Matrosu. The band is famous for its originality, avoiding the mainstream and doing what they love.

Bayley and Di’Anno

Two ex-lead vocalists of the world-famous heavy metal band Iron Maiden are coming to Kyiv. Bayley and Di’Anno have been performing together since February 2012, delivering Iron Maiden’s old repertoire as well as trying out solo works.  Di’Anno was with the band from 1978 to 1981 and was one of the most memorable band members. Bayley replaced Bruce Dickinson in 1993 and was with the band until 1999. The two heavy metal masters will put on a show to remember.
