Benedict Cumberbatch in 'Frankenstein'

The "Frankenstein" theatrical performance filmed right on the stage of the London's Royal National Theater in 2011 and directed by Danny Boyle will be screened in Kyiv's cinemas this October. Boyle's previous work includes famous "Trance" movie starring Scottish star James McAvoy and the "127 hours" movie starring Hollywood famous James Franko. Johny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of BBC's "Sherlock" TV series, alternate the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. The screenings are in English with Ukrainian subtitles. Pop and rock hits by symphonic orchestra

Those who find it hard to sit through a symphonic concert should check out this event. The world famous hits of Sting, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Joe Cocker, Nirvana, Metallica, AC/DC, Depeche Mode and even Ukrainian legendary band Okean Elzy will sound differently as they get to be performed by an orchestra. The show will be conducted by famous Ukrainian conductor Yuriy Yakovenko.

Dnipro (Dnipropetrovsk) vs. Qarabag (Azerbaijan)

Kyiv’s Olympic Stadium will host Azerbaijan’s Qarabag and Dnipropetrovsk’s Dnipro in the group stage of Europa League’s club tournament. Tickets are available at the box office of Olympic Stadium or on-line at www.ticketing.nsc-olimpiyskiy.com.ua

Jazz Love Songs

Jazz love songs will be masterly performed by the vocal virtuoso of Ukrainian jazz Ruslan Yehorov, the saxophonist and founder of the Ukrainian jazz band Skhid-Side Dmytro “Bobin” Aleksandrov, the drummer Pavlo Halytsky and many other stars of Ukrainian jazz.

Molodist Film Festival

Molodist is the Ukrainian film festival featuring young and amateur directors. This year’s directors of short and full-length films will compete for the $10,000 prize and the main award – the statuette of Skifsky Olen (The Scythian Deer). Visitors will be able to watch films of Slovak, French, German and Norway directors. An international contest of LGBT community films and films for children is also on the program.

Blue Foundation

Danish band Blue Foundation comes to Kyiv for the first time this October. For the ones who loved the “Twilight” movie, it is a great chance to hear live “Eyes on Fire,” one of the key songs on the film score.
