You're reading: New ‘Coyotes’ coming to a Kyiv saloon

A bar whose simplistic concept combines beautiful women and copious amounts of alcohol–with which Ukraine is bountifully blessed – to make money is slated to open on July 10.

It is the country’s first Coyote Ugly Saloon, the unglamorous watering hole known for waitresses, called “Coyote Girls,” who dance and sing on a 25-meter long bar as they serve up stiff drinks that aren’t mixed with soda, juice or water – “Hell No…H2O!” U.S. customers reportedly yell – from their boots or bodies if the moment is right.

So don’t expect cocktails with fresh mint leaves and miniature umbrellas; just pure alcohol. And should a brasserie fall on top of your head – some bars hang them on ceilings from female patrons who took them off during crazy nights – act casual.

“Our bars are like a wild and crazy rollercoaster ride!” bar founder Lil Lovell says in an interview available on Coyote Ugly’s website.

She opend the original Coyote Ugly in New York City 1993 employing her proven formula of “beautiful girls + booze = money.”

Elaborating on the bar’s “business plan,” Lovell said: “I began training my girls to perform my shtick. Some were good dancers, some were good singers, and others could yell at the crowd and entice them to drink. Very few had all three qualities, so I had to improvise. I would pair up the dancer with the comic yeller. Maybe the singer can be trained to dance a little better and it all began to work.”

There are 13 Coyote saloons in America, and bars in Germany, Russia and Romania.

Worldwide fame came to Coyote Ugly after an eponymous Hollywood movie was released in 2000 based on a GQ magazine article by Elizabeth Gilbert who once worked at one of the bars.

In addition to drinks and sure-to-come fun, Coyote Ugly offers a comfortable lounge area and has a souvenir shop so visitors will have something with which to remember their “rollercoaster” nights.

Doors will open on 9 Mechnikova Street near the Klovska metro station.
