You're reading: Open air cinema brings movie nights to the beach

No longer do you have to choose between an evening stroll in the park and going to watch a film thanks to an open air cinema that just opened in Kyiv, on the beach in Park Druzhby Narodiv.

The project was launched on May 17 with a series of movies featuring Leonardo DiCaprio
screened on a 40 square meters screen under the stars. Organizers plan to hold movie nights each
Friday and Saturday.

The movie theatre won’t stay in park for long,
though. It has to move by end-May, and is still discussing its next
location with municipal authorities.

Instead of regular chairs, the cinema offers beach loungers and hammocks
for Hr 10 per
person. Large groups can rent a whole pavilion for Hr 250, barbeque
equipment included. These expenses are on top of the entry fee of Hr
30-40.

Organizers promise that every night will be special
and unique, and focused on different themes, like horror movies (planned for Friday, May 24) or
comedies (Saturday May25)

To get to the open air movie theater, get to Petrivka
metro station and take any bus, marshrutka or trolleybus that goes in direction of Troeshchyna  (bus № 192, 101, 550, 21, 150, 180, trolleybus № 30, 31) to Park Druzhby
Narodiv stop. In the park, head towards The Most club. Movie screenings start on
Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. Entry fee is Hr 30-40.
