You're reading: Rock and guitar legend

Who would think that a Catholic school graduate and ice cream shop boy from a small British town would transform into a rock and guitar legend?

For the third time, Kyiv is hosting British composer, guitarist and singer Chris Rea.

But in several decades on stage, this 60-year old composer and musician manages to treat the audiences with new compositions. This is the fourth time the singer is coming to Kyiv. This time he is bringing his new album “Santo Spirito Blues”, as well as old hits.

When the 22-year old left-handed Camillo Rea picked up the guitar, he went against his nature and learned to play with his right hand. He conquered England first with his major hit, The Road to Hell in 1989, topping the charts in the UK, while in the US it never gained the same traction.

Then followed the hit Auberge, which conquered both the UK and the US charts.

Once the world almost lost this genius musician. Diagnosed with pancreatitis, Rea went through an operation, which gave him half and half chances of survival. This experience pushed him back to the blues.
