You're reading: Lifestyle blog: Racy amateur music video goes viral

If anyone working in Ukraine noticed their colleagues staring at computer screens and choking with hysterical laughter on May 27, it was probably because of a video they were watching.

Nazariy Pavlesa, who claims to be a
third-year student at the Kyiv Culture and Arts Academy, reportedly produced
the “Hello, America” amateur music video, as a class assignment. At least
that’s what the video’s credits say.

However, an academy representative told
“Vesti” daily newspaper that the video has nothing to do with class work and
that the names of professors listed in the credits should be removed.

In the video, a fleshy young woman named Katrin
sings a typical pop song about love. But it’s not the song that drew attention
to this piece of amateur art. A great portion of the video shows busty Katrin
showing off her curves in provocative lingerie. Unfortunately for her, the
closest thing to sexual arousal the singer manages to provoke is giggling.

Tacky as it is, Katrin’s debut is surely
one of the fastest spreading videos Ukraine has ever seen. It was uploaded on
May 25, but stayed unnoticed until someone put it on their Facebook page on May
27. The video has jumped to almost 100,000 views in one day. The comments section
was dominated by reactions like, “I want to gouge my eyes”, “How do I erase
this from my memory?” and “Now I won’t be able to have sex in the next year.”
