You're reading: Lifestyle Blog: Fans of Ukrainian army show their support on Instagram

Since Ukraine's army suddenly topped the news after Russia invaded Crimea in late February, Ukrainians started expressing warm feelings to their defenders. Tens of thousands of posts, photographs and memes featuring Ukrainian army filled the Internet in the last months. Here are just some of the photos of Ukrainian troops that were posted on Instagram lately.

A picture of Ukrainian soldier looking out of Ukrainian military vehicle posted by ultras_shakhtar gathered almost 200 likes, which is a big deal for Ukrainian Instagram.

Other pictures look not less dramatic. Take a flag, a tank, a soldier and a dark sky and here’s your impressive war shot.

No staging though it is a real war in Eastern Ukraine where both photos were supposedly taken.

“Ours! It is safer with them around,” Instagram user den_kirkach commented under a photograph.

Selfies with Ukrainian militants in the background have also made it to the trends of the spring.

Surprisingly the photo went with a sad cutline. “Military car. I am sad because of events in Ukraine. May people who died in Odessa rest in peace! Odessa, hold on,” user reinholdbartuli wrote under her picture.

Those who weren’t lucky enough to pose for a picture with a real soldier can get one printed on a t-shirt.

“The back of the shirt says ‘I support Ukraine’s Army’,” Instagram user Olha Lahotska wrote under her picture.

All this seems to be about support. And even financial support of Ukrainian army gets pictured and instagrammed.

“Thanks for supporting Ukrainian army,” the sms posted by Instagram user rozand_ua reads. This is an automatic reply every person who sends an SMS for Hr 5 to Ukrainian military forces gets. By sending such messages Ukrainians raised over Hr 28 million for their army.

Ukrainian army men seem to be not less proud of themselves.

“Cool to be a soldier” trend has been officially set.

Meanwhile the glory of Ukrainian soldiers goes far beyond Ukraine’s borders.

“I love Army UA,” reads the sticker on the building wall somewhere in Paris.
