You're reading: Lifestyle Blog: Art posters condemn Mistral deal

Graphic designers joined the public condemnation of France producing Mistral warships for Russia. Activists of Ukraine Crisis Media Center announced a contest of creative posters themed after the scandalous deal, and the first participants have already submitted their posters.

Despite French President
François Hollande saying that France decided to not sell Mistral ships to Russia untill it stops its military operation in Ukraine’s east, the joint French-Russian testing
of the first mistral Vladivostok held on Sept. 12-22 suggests that France may still be selling the first Mistral to Russia this autumn.

One Mistral can carry a couple of landing
ships, 16 military helicopters and 700 servicemen. Ukrainians are concerned
about possible usage of the ships against Ukraine.

The first tour of the creative posters contest took
place in July 28 – Aug. 24. The organizers did
not reveal how many people submitted the posters.

The shortlisted posters are presented on
the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center Facebook page.
The winner will be selected among those that get the biggest number of “likes” and are
at the same time supported by the board members of Ukraine Crisis
Media Center. The winner of the competition will
be awarded with a weekend trip to Paris where he or she will be able to perform a one-person protest against the Mistral deal.

So far only five posters were published. So far the one with the word play of “sell” and “hell” has been the most popular.
