You're reading: Ukrainian TV reporter infiltrates Grammys, gets arrested

Ukrainian prankster and 1+1 TV host Vitalii Sediuk has struck again, this time at the Grammys in Hollywood.

While the stunt lasts but a mere moment, unrecognizable by most who watched the event, which was televised Sunday night, a YouTube video just seven seconds long shows Sediuk on stage in a tuxedo and glasses applauding singer Adele as she comes up to accept her Grammy for best pop solo performance.

Sediuk climbed the stage before Adele when her victory was announced, apparently to get the award instead of the singer.

Security guards didn’t react fast enough to stop him, but Jennifer Lopez, who along with rapper Pitbull presented the award to Adele, was quick-thinking. In the video she can be seen waving Sediuk away, then turning to watch him retreat backstage, where security detained him for trespassing.

The Ukrainian TV presenter told The Hollywood Reporter that he came to Grammys uninvited. He arrived with friends who had tickets, and got in with them when ticket controllers didn’t count just how many tickets the company had.

Most people would already be happy with that, but not Sediuk. He went directly to the red carpet area, where he talked to celebrities and took a picture with Adele, who was unaware of what was expecting her. After that, he was tagging along with pop singer Katy Perry down the red carpet and following her inside the Staples Center. According to Sediuk, security guards checked his pockets, but didn’t care for the ticket.

Inside the event, Sediuk found an empty seat behind singer Justin Timberlake and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, right in the second row. The Hollywood Reporter’s sources said that the seat was meant for Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, who was late for the ceremony and had to find another seat after discovering his reserved one was occupied.

“This is my brightest moment so far! Standing next to Adele on Grammy’s stage yesterday!” Sediuk wrote at his Facebook page after the event.

Sediuk, who made headlines last May after he kissed the cheek of actor Will Smith at the Moscow premiere of Men in Black 3 and earned a slap for that, has a long history of similar shenanigans. He has surprised singer Kylie Minogue giving her some goat milk, given hydrangeas to Madonna, gotten legend television host Larry King to show him how to properly wear suspenders, and dressed up as a Disney prince for Kate Middleton’s wedding, among other things.

Sediuk spent last Sunday night in jail following the Grammy incident before being released Monday morning. A court date has been set for sometime in March.
