Ukrainian artist Yulia Lazarevska is one of those, who still remember, what “Richelieu” lace means. It was long ago that these laces, immensely popular in Soviet Union, were seen hanging in the middle of Podil’s courtyard and little girl despondently practicing practicing piano were also among the typical sites of this past life. Lazarevskaya, coming from world of Podil’s courtyard, painted the little girls from that time in oil and glued laces right to the pictures.  Lazarevska’s paintings resemble old photographs, with the long gone past spill over present.  To put it simply, Lazarevska mixes time and space, “Richelieu” laces and girls of the 1950s. Those girls are just a little boy from Ray Bradbury’s “Something Wicked This Way Comes,” feeling so unconditional in this adult world.
