Gogolfest is on

Gogolfest is back, dedicated to the bicentennial of legendary writer Mykola Gogol will run from May 6 to 25  at the Mystetskiy Arsenal.

According the festival's Web site, "that UNESCO has proclaimed 2009 'Gogol’s Year' underscores the international recognition of this great novelist, short story writer, and playwright who unified two great Slavic cultures and took the synthesis to the rest of the world." The international festival will run through April of next year and is meant to unite famous artists, musicians, writers, film directors.

Like last year, Gogolfest will involve a number of projects connected with Gogol’s works and are aimed at presenting Ukrainian art and culture to the world. Gogolfest will be opened by the performance of DAKH theater, to be followed by project of ten Ukrainian artists – “Zhyvi Hroshi – Mertvi Dushi” (“Live Money – Dead Souls”) taking place at 11 Kyiv galleries. Another art project featured as a part of Gogolfest will be an open program by young underground artists.
