Apps Music & Sziget: Awards

Apps Music Awards and the biggest music festival in Eastern Europe will name the best new Ukrainian indie bands on May 26. The ceremony will include performances by Kadnay, My Last Attempt, Yuko and other bands. The winners of two categories will get a money reward and the right to rock the stage at this year’s Sziget held on August 8-15 in Budapest, Hungary. The event is free.

Kurazh Night Market India

Kurazh Bazar charity market is throwing another party to raise money. This time, the event will teleport visitors to charming India – the U.K. DJ of Indian origin Panjabi MC will play music,  traditional Indian food is to be sold and everyone will, of course, get a bindi, a colored dot worn on the center of the forehead. On May 28, the market will have a special guest – Sir Elton John, the British singer, composer and philanthropist will arrive to find out more about Ukrainian charity projects and get a pair of new sunglasses.

Børns

The charming U.S. singer Garrett Clark Borns, better known by his stage name Børns, is bringing his “Electric Love” to Ukraine. The indie-pop singer is to present his new album “Blue Madonna” released in January. Børns has reached popularity after the successful release of 2015 album “Dopamine” that led to a sold-out tour around the United States. Being a regular performer at Coachella and other major music festivals in the country, Børns is considered as one of the rising indie stars. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the singer’s first performance in Kyiv.

Molodist International Film Festival

Molodist film festival was launched back in 1970 by a group of enthusiasts from Kyiv State Theater Art Institute way before Ukraine even declared its independence. Today it’s one of the major events for Ukrainian film industry, where many premieres take place. This year, Molodist will kick off on May 27 and will screen both short and feature films in international and national competition, as well as non-competitive works by artists from all over the world. Over 100 films will be screened with English and Ukrainian subtitles. Check out the festival’s program at www.molodist.com/en
