NEWS ITEM: When the criminal case against Mykola Kniazhytsky, head of the independent TVi channel, was opened in April, the channel went to court. On June 25, the court dismissed tax evasion claims against TVi. Despite this ruling, however, representatives of the State Tax Service seized documents from TVi on July 12, citing the still-open criminal case. Kniazhytsky is accused of evading Hr 3 million in taxes. He denied all allegations and says the TV channel is being persecuted for its hard-hitting, investigative journalism.
